Wicca IS Witchcraft. Avoid it.

A person involved in Wicca may claim it is not witchcraft. It is.

Let’s not mince words: Wiccans present themselves as tree huggers who honor nature. Wicca is of the occult and is evil. It is linked to the master deceiver, Satan. There are just two sources of power, the one and only God, and the one and only Satan. The Devil floats many luring fishing lines, one being Wicca.

Wicca is an occult religion in which multiple gods are worshipped. It can be practiced alone, as a solitary practitioner, or in a coven. Many of us have heard or seen covens glamorized on television or movies. A coven is a group of people who practice Wicca together, the same as declared witches do.

What is Wicca?

Wicca is a belief system that Briton Gerald Gardner cobbled together in the 1940s and 1950s from a variety of religious traditions and beliefs as well as Freemason rituals. Since Gardner published several books espousing his system of worship, many offshoots and variations of Wicca have sprung up.

Some Wiccans are polytheistic, worshipping more than one deity, while others worship only the “God” or the “Goddess.” Other Wiccans worship nature, and call it Gaea, after the Greek earth goddess. Some Wiccans pick and choose parts of Christian doctrine to embrace, while others totally reject Christianity. Most practitioners of Wicca believe in reincarnation.

Most Wiccans take on the Celtic god and goddess. The goddess is always seen as more revered than the god because she brings life to the god. The goddess is the mother of all life and relates to the moon. The god relates to the sun and represents nature.

Wiccans also believe in the elements of Air, Fire, Water, Earth and Spirit. These elements are called on frequently during magical divination and rituals. The symbol of a pentagram, a five-pointed star within a circle, relates to these elements. Each point of the star represents one element.

During rituals, Spirit guides are often called upon for aid, meditation, or divination. Many practitioners use objects such as crystals, tarot cards, or Ouija boards to communicate with what they believe to be spirits.

The Bible denounces all occult practices

Isaiah 40, God paints a picture of how much greater the Creator is than His creation. If we are worshipping anything besides the Creator, we are not only spinning our wheels, we are guilty of idolatry.

Deuteronomy 18:10-12 says, “Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.  Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and because of these detestable practices the Lord your god will drive out those nations before you

The New Testament also condemns such practices (Galatians 5:20).  In the city of Ephesus, many who were practicing in the occult became believers in the Messiah Jesus Christ, and renounced their occult practices.  Acts 19:19 says, "Many also of those who practiced magic brought their books together and began burning them in the sight of all."

Another encounter with the occult can be seen in Acts 13:6-12, “And when they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they found a certain magician, a Jewish false prophet whose name was Bar-Jesus, who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence

This man summoned Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God.  But Elymas the magician (for thus his name is translated) was opposing them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith
"But Saul, who was also known as Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, fixed his gaze upon him. And he said, ‘You who are full of all deceit and fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to make crooked the straight ways of the Lord?  And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you will be blind and not see the sun for a time.’

And immediately a mist and a darkness fell upon him, and he went about seeking those who would lead him by the hand.  Then the proconsul believed when he saw what happened, being amazed at the teaching of the Lord.”

The road of the occult is broad and leads to destruction, while the way of Christ is narrow and leads to life eternal. Wicca is a dead end. Its promise of do-over reincarnation is ruled out in Hebrews 9:27 which states, “…Man is destined to die once, after that, to face judgment.”

God says we get one chance at life, and that is it. If we do not accept God’s gift of Jesus in our lifetime, He will judge us as unwilling to be in His presence, and we will be sent to Hell.

Spells and other ways to God are fraudulent. Wiccan spells bring disillusionment. Mark 7-8 says, “You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men.”

Sex is a promoted to the sky by Wiccans as it is a representation of the rebirth and growth of the male god from the goddess. Fornication, adultery and homosexuality are encouraged. The Bible blasts them as sin.

Wiccan tools

Wiccans use the following loyalty items to gain power -

Crystals – considered items of power that are personal to the Wiccan and used in rituals

Wands – crystal, wood, or metal – used in rituals and often carried around by some Wiccans

Pentagrams – a star within a circle either upside down or right side up usually worn on the neck, a ring or on clothing

Tarot cards – cards with pictures used for divination (telling the future) often carried in a felt, silk or velvet pouch

Runes – stones with symbols used for divination also carried in a pouch

Book of Shadows – looks like a journal and is used to write their personal alphabet, write rituals, coven instruction, or information about herbs/oils/spells

A black and a white handled athames (knife) – these are used for rituals and other purposes
A chalice (goblet) – although typically not carried outside of rituals this is a tool of Wiccans

Brooms – also not carried outside of rituals but is a tool of Wiccans

Familiar Wiccans sayings

Blessed be/Bright Blessings – this can be misleading to the Christian because of the word blessing
An It Harm None, Do As Thou Wilt – this is the Wiccan Rede

Merry Meet – this is a Wiccan greeting

Merry Part – this is a Wiccan goodbye

The Threefold law – a Wiccan will speak of every good deed being returned three times and every bad deed being returned three times

Darkness

The more one embraces Wicca, the further they move into darkness. The further we move into darkness, the more hostile you may become to Christianity, the idea of the cross, and the Christ sacrifice.

Oftentimes, those involved in occult practices develop an attraction for dark things such as the nighttime, skulls, rebellion, dark clothing, and a desire for power. These things are the fingerprints of the enemy who will gradually overtake a person.

What of a new Christian?

It is VERY important that a new Christian who has left the cult burn all items related to Wicca and declare all linkage to Satan and demons null and void by the power of the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Acts 19:19 says, “Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men.”

Find a good Bible-believing church. A Wiccan should be cautious in selecting a church. Former Wiccans are naturally drawn to false doctrines that hold women, such as Mary, in a higher light or have women preachers/deaconesses
