POPE WAVES OFF HOMOSEXUALITY
By NiteOwlDave niteowldave@gmail.com
Pope Francis blew it when he said July 29, 2013, that he will not “judge” gays and lesbians. He waved it off.
Instead of articulating the words of the Bible, the pope waffled and said, “If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?”
The Bible condemns homosexuality. Jesus Christ said marriage was between a man and woman, and we should follow His lead and judge against that way too.
From Genesis to Revelation, God’s Word calls homosexuality a perversion and a certain sign that God’s judgment is on the way to the culture that openly celebrates it as “normal. We are certainly not to celebrate what is condemned.
A FEW BIBLE SNIPPETS -
Leviticus 18:22 says, “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.“
1 Kings 14:24 says,” And there were also male cult prostitutes in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations that the Lord drove out before the people of Israel.”
Jude 1:7 says, “Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.”
Romans 1:26-28 says, “For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.”
1 Corinthians 6:9-11says, “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”
In Matthew 19:4-6 Jesus said, “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh”? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate."
Christ never used the word homosexual or lesbian. But by defining marriage as between one male and one female, Jesus effectively condemned all other arrangements.
The popes are leaders who too often are no shows when it comes to quoting scripture.
