HOW DO WE KNOW JESUS IS THE CHRIST?

QUESTION: Did Jesus ever claim to be the Messiah, or Savior?
ANSWER: Yes.
Before going further, I want to point out that Jesus was many things that He never claimed to be.
• He was born of a virgin, but He never said He was.
• He was the Seed of the woman, but He never said He was.
Christ was more than He ever said He was.
The Scriptures say far more about Him, than He said of Himself. Scriptures says He is the Son of God. He also said it Himself.
The word Christ means anointed One, or the Messiah. The word for Messias or Messiah is only mentioned twice in the New Testament. As to Him claiming to be the Messiah, Jesus confirms this in John 4: 25 and 26 with a woman,
“The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.”
The only other place the word Messiah is mentioned is John 1:41, where Andrew said, “... first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.”
The great confession of Christianity is found in Matthew 16:16, 17 when Jesus asked His disciples whom He was.
Jesus replied, “And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.”
An angel stated at His birth that Jesus is the Savior/Messiah . It said in Luke 2:11, “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.
In Acts 5:31 we see that the apostles preached; “Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.” Only God can forgive sins.
The Lord Jesus Christ sure is the Messiah and Savior. The question for those who read this is, Is He your Savior? Have you repented and trusted Him?
