WHO SENDS US TO HELL?
There are a lot of charges brought against the God of the Bible with this one leading the hit parade: “If God loves us, why would He send people to Hell?”
The short and simple answer to that question is that God does not send us to Hell: We send ourselves there if we chose to ignore or reject Christ who paid our sin debt and is the one and only way to Heaven.
Jesus said in John14:6 He was the only way: "I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me."
Of course, just because someone says he is the only way, doesn't mean he is being honest. We need to look at Jesus' miracles as a proof that He was right about whom He said He was.
Jesus walked on water, calmed a storm with a command, raised people from the dead, and rose from the dead Himself. It is the fact of His incredible deeds.
The question of Hell is not an appealing one. No one likes the idea of many people suffering judgment in the life to come.
But the good news of the Gospel requires that there be bad news. Salvation in Jesus Christ would not bring glory to God if there were actually nothing to be saved from.
When unbelieving critics talk about Hell, they sometimes speak like it will be full of innocent people like they may think they are. The Bible doesn’t indicate that innocent people will spend a single moment in Hell.
Rather, Hell is God’s answer to the fundamental injustice of this life. There are many murderers, rapists who wreak havoc in the lives of others who never experience judgment in this life.
Everyone knows that such horrific deeds are wrong and there should be justice. The Bible says that Christ rejecters are guilty of an equally heinous crime. Hell awaits both groups.
Sin is sin. Romans 3:10-12 says, “There is no one righteous, not even one. There is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away; they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”
